Samsung is updating its Dax experience with a new design that has been strengthened by Android 16’s desktop mode. Although many features remain the same, some changes are now worth noting for users who rely on the environment like this desktop.
The Samsung Dax, who first launched with the Galaxy S8 in 2017, allows auxiliary Galaxy phones to connect with the external display and offer a desktop styling interface. With the arrival of A UI 8 And Android 16Samsung is making decks on the upper part of Android’s new native desktop mode, which was formally introduced by Google in I/O 2025.
Although Android’s desktop mode is still in beta, version of Samsung A UI 8 Looks better. The new Dax experience is currently available at the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Philip 7, and preliminary comments suggest that most of the core dex interface is intact.

However, some other changes may affect how some tools are accessed. The settings in the app have been removed separately and replaced with a more common “attached display” menu. In addition, the “Exit Dex” shortcut is no longer found in the app.
Samsung has also changed that the task bar is treated. Now it reflects the downed apps from the phone’s home screen. This is a mirror of some changes introduced in Google Android 16 A sign of severe integration between QPR1, Samsung’s implementation and ancestral cooperation of Android.
A deep look also indicated other occasions: the right -click menu on the desktop and the task bar has been reduced, when the video apps are in full screen, some UI elements are now visible, and the ability to pin apps on Windows has been removed. These may be small changes, but they affect users who customize their Dex Setup.
Despite some of the lost features of the old Dax version of Samsung, the new version is running Android 16 Feel more stable and modern. Compared to Google’s stock desktop mode, Dax still comes as a more polished solution. That said, Dax continues to serve the foundation of a niche consumer, and most people who use it will not be affected by these small differences.
As we see more galaxies adopt phones and tablets A UI 8 In the coming months, it will be worth seeing whether Samsung extends this new dexus experience to other devices or limits it to its latest foldable.
