I am now happy to report that the most disturbing features of modern smartphones are eventually made in 2025. This is the year when the curved screen phones are now a remote memory and exceptions instead of the principle. Good waiver!
Curved screens: Modern Smartphones made for which we are thankful
To me, with a screen, there was nothing more disturbing than a great flagship phone that turns to the frame toward the frame.
I would recognize that the first repetition of the design I tested on the Galaxy S7 Edge and the Galaxy S8 was quite interesting and novel, at the time he successfully stood up to the rest of his rivals. It was new and shiny and a little future was visible. What do you mean we can make a phone with a sudden curved display that doesn’t have to be completely flat?
As an additional bonus, the arrival of curved screens is consistent with the important sample shift in terms of interface navigation: gestures. Somehow, curved screens did a great deal of work with indicator navigation during the day, for example, really satisfactory and precise back gestures.
However, in the next two years since the first curved screen Samsung Flagship, I used a lot of phones with such screens and started to hate them quickly, I do not have the courage to say, I say the guarantee of saying, objectively real reasons.

Inferior grip and aergonomics
There are no two ways about this – when it comes to aergonomics, curved screens are terrifying. The reason for this is clearly: Low area on the side for a comfortable grip. In the most extreme cases I can remember, we had some extremely curved letters that barely ended with a millimeter or two -use area, which is barely enough for a secure hold.
It mostly opposes modern phones, where the side frame you hold is thicker like a phone, which makes the user’s palm significantly better contact, though the sharp stream is one of the insects itself and the other.
Content distortion
Perhaps the most aggressive aspect of a curved screen phone is how much part of the content displayed is lost in itself. Although such a screen phone was technically, it says, 6.7 inches wide, the original useful area was small due to the sides of the screen, which is seeing photos, videos, or any other content.
Not cool at all.
It was especially bad if you watched a lot of video on your phone or played a lot, as the experience was much worse than a more regular flat display contemporary device. It was one of the biggest reasons that I did a lot to dislike the phone with curved screens.
Reflection and screen glare
But get it, not only is it that curved screens “ate” the screen real estate “ate” – curves also reflects us on the main edge and glare. The harvest of curves was always prone to all reflection from all sources of light. This only increased the insult to injury, as you not only had less use of screen real estate, the invasive areas also blinded you and increased the inferior experience.

Touching the accidental “past”
In the early days of the curved screen phone, I used to actually mobilize gestures and buttons at all times. At that time, the palm rejection process was not very good, but then the devices also often make it easier to tap some interface element. This has never happened to me with a regular unhealthy phone.
Less internal space for hardware
Imagine how much more batteries you can fit if you have flat agendas instead of a curved screen. Well, maybe not much, but as in all cases, everyone helps. The unique form of curved screen phones means that the extreme parts of the phone were a responsibility rather than providing extra space for additional hardware.
The relevance of limited devices
I am a kilotz, so if I’m using a phone does not come with a pre -used screen protector, I usually try to get the screen from scratches and drops. With modern flat screen phones, this is an easy test, you can find a decent glass or TPU screen protector for any modern phone.
However, this is not a matter of curved screens. Screen protectors had trouble finding and applying, and they usually left an unsafe area that came to your finger indicator and the navigation experience worsened.
Added costs without real -life benefits
Have you broken the phone screen with a curved display? I have, and there was not a particularly beautiful scenario to see the repair bill. Call in the story’s evidence, but I am sure that curved screen spaces are always attractive to standard phones.
And this is the problem, really: the curved display increased ownership costs without actively cooperating with the overall phone’s overall functionality. To me, this form is a clear matter of the over -function, and I am very happy that we have made them phase.
Result: It’s not sad to see you go, curved screens!
I didn’t have to use a large -scale curved screen phone for more than a year, and what relief! Just dealing with flat screen phones and not working with all the aforementioned negative reasons is nothing short of a mini -disclosure.
I am very happy that we have pursued strange curves and adopted the modern all -flat design language globally, which is honestly the most sensible.
