If there is a joint complaint between all smartphone users, it will be likely to be related to the battery. Regardless of the brand you use, the chances are that you want to keep your phone a large, lasting and fast -charging battery. This is true for me, my friends and family, and for many people who make time to respond to our elections and take part in our discussions. Given all of this, it is not surprising that whenever a large battery makes a smartphone news, people get at least interesting, if not excited at all. This is why a recent rumor of a phone is a Galaxy S25 ultra -shaped, but with a battery of 10,000 MAh, looks like a dream.

I hate to be in awe, but if something is true. If you look great, it usually happens for some reason. I wouldn’t say that silicon batteries are a scam, but there is definitely a catch, which is why the world’s largest smartphone companies avoid them.

What is the silicon carbon battery?

Recently, we have seen some Chinese manufacturers adopting silicon carbon batteries with far more capabilities than traditional cells. The latest examples include Honor X70 and Oppo K13, including 8,300 mAh and 7,000 MAh batteries respectively. Thanks to the latest technology of lithium -ion batteries thanks to the number. In silicon carbon batteries, graphite anode is affected with silicone, which can help store maximum energy in the same location. The theory, the difference can reach ten times, causing the energy density to be high in silicon batteries.

In direct words, you get a lot of more capacity of the same size battery, which allows thin phones and foldable to get better batteries. This is why Honor Magic V and Oppo get large batteries in N5, despite being more thin Galaxy S. 25 Ultra.

However, this success comes with his own problems, which is why we will not be able to see more of these batteries at any time.

    Regulatory problem

You may have heard that there are limits to flying with lithium -ion batteries. Although the entire battery should not exceed 100 WH, there is a range of 20 WH for each individual cell. If the battery exceeds that limit, it has to be considered as a dangerous good, and the planes will not be easily allowed.

Unlike US regulators, we usually measure the capacity of smartphone batteries in MAH. It can be easily converted to WH, and @Unices recently has mathematics for some famous smartphones. Their abilities in W and Mah are:

You may be wondering how the OnePlus 13 manages to pack 6,000 MAh battery and pass the regulatory check. However, its ability keeps it above 20 WH limit. The answer is easy and obvious in personnel’s notes One Plus 13Sixty-page-pages-This adopts dual-cell design, so each individual cell has a capacity of 3,000 MAH. Multi -cell design is also the reason why you can carry your laptops and tablets on airplanes without labeling “dangerous goods”. But this is not the only challenge with silicon carbon batteries.

This is also the question of physics

Even if big manufacturers follow the example of One Plus and decide to go on a multi -cell way, this will not solve all problems. The biggest challenge of pure silicon batteries is extremely expansion. When it is fully charged, the silicon battery structure can increase by 300 %, which will put mechanical pressure on the battery and affect its work. I mean, have you ever seen a swollen battery and don’t worry? I don’t!

Manufacturers limit the expansion by using silicon carbon composite instead of pure silicon. Adding carbon helps with structural integrity, reduces swelling, and helps other matters. For example, silicon’s low power conductivity can reduce charging and can lead to high heat preparation, but carbon reduces these effects.

Basically, the more silicon in the battery, the larger the capacity, but the loneliness is short. The good news is that companies are working on ways to solve these issues and improve our phone batteries. The bad news is that it may take a while before we can see the results of our smartphones.

    The matter of choice

I am all for battery tech progress that will make my phone last forever, but it’s just a part of the equation. The more efficient chip set and better energy management have already promoted battery life. The next step is easily using the current tech in smart ways.

Finally, it’s all about choosing. On the one hand there are large batteries, which may not be more than a few years of their capacity, but will stay longer in the meantime. On the other hand, there are small batteries, which may require more times, but will potentially maintain their capacity for a 7 -year software update that we meet with modern devices.

The choices appear to be a combination of safety and longevity, while some Chinese brands choose shiny spears. I am with the giants in this regard, but I like the end we have a different choice.
