The company announced Thursday that Apple’s App Store Age rating system is being restored. Once developers adopt a new ranking, consumers will soon see more granular age ratings for apps and sports at the App Store. On the same day, the changes were unveiled that the iPhone maker released public beta versions of the upcoming operating system, including iOS 26, iPados 26, Macos 26, and Wachos. Apple says developers will have to adopt their apps rating by the end of January 2026.
Apple says he will use the region’s age rating
According to a updated on the Apple Developer Blog, the company has added 13+, 16+, and 18+ ratings for apps to the App Store, which includes the current 4+ and 9+ age rating. These will allow developers to show users (including parents) a better idea about apps downloading on their devices.
Although Apple’s site contains the aforementioned five -age rating list, the company says it will assign a classification based on different countries and regions worldwide, and its details are available on the company’s developer support website. Developers have to answer a set of questions for each app that is available at the App Store, and their apps will be assigned based on their response.
These questions are related to an app’s app controls, app properties, content that include violent topics, and whether it includes medical or well -being titles. However, if the company assigns a low rating, developers can also determine the higher age rating.
Apple says developers should also answer the question mark on the basis of which their app function includes different features, which features AI. The company also says that apps have to comply with various regulations, such as the United States and the European Union.
The new ratings will be displayed on iOS 26, iPados 26, Macos Tahao 26, TVOS 26, Visionos 26, and Wachos 26. To give the developers time to complete the questionnaire for each app, Apple has set a deadline for January 31, 2026, after which they will not be able to submit the app to the app for their apps.
