Google’s Gemini Ai has just got a big upgrade and it no longer helps you. It’s picking up the phone and working for you.
A new experimental feature, which is currently developed by Google’s AI format in search labs, allows Gemin to call you local businesses. Using its duplex technology, the same AI sound that once creates restaurant reservations, Gemini can now check prices, confirm inventory, ask about hours and provide a clean summary. You all have to tap a button and wait for follow -up.
And yes, it actually works. I have experienced it in a real life, a very specific scenario: detect the Libo toy for my eight -year -old daughter.

When you look for something like that “Pet shops near me” or “a 24 -hour pharmacy near me,” You may see a new hint below some business lists: “Make AI check availability” or “AI check pricing.”
Tap it, and Gemini will ask you a short form what you are looking for, when you need and how much you are willing to travel.
From there, Gemini uses duplex to call. AI introduces itself clearly (not an excuse to be a real human) and asks your question directly. You don’t have to listen. When a call is made, Gemini sends a text or email summary with a business response, which includes details such as product availability, price and store times.
The biggest thing for me was not repeating myself repeatedly because I called every store. Ai did this for me.
This is one of the many features of the agent style that is included in the Google Search Labs. Others include deep searching for research, purchase tools that summarize the speculation in multiple listings, and the Gemini 2.5 Pro, a more powerful AI model made for Longfire reasoning.
But the ability to make real -world phone calls to this day is easily the most hand -on -feature.
I used it to find Libo – and she worked

Let’s back up: My daughter has a madness of Libo. This is the unaware of the people, this is a high -value -high -high -eyed manuscript, which is part of Grammallin, which is part of Woodland Sprite. Royalism is a rival of children during the day. It is strange to find these things in stores unless you know where to see. And no, you can’t easily buy a single on Amazon (trust me, I saw there first).
My daughter is begging me forever and she saved her money to pay half. So, I was determined to track it.
After going out with some stores on my own, I saw the “AI check availability” button under the store listing on Google. I tapped it. Gemini asked some quick questions about the toys and how much would I be ready to drive. I was not going to NYC for it, but I said I would pay the shipping.
Then I forgot about about 40 minutes later, when I received a message. Gemini called the store, asked about Libo, confirmed that he had some stock, and that included pricing and store times.
I was blown up to see how painful it was, especially in the face of the chaos of the popular toys of the past. Cabbage patches, tickle I am so easy to handle the emo and more.
Why does it make a difference
There is something quietly about how to do it. Unlike the sound assistants, the suggestions that stop, Gemini actually works on you and does what makes man, helper and handy. This is not just passively at the information level, it is solving the problem for you. This is a kind of wild.
For parents, interviews or mere busy people who don’t want to spend their afternoon to call five different stores, this is the AI tool we did not know that we needed.
This feature is currently available to all US users, which have high use limits for AI PRO and AI ultra -users. Business owners can also opt out if they do not receive AI-driving calls.
It is also a part of a wider trend that we are looking at with Agent AI, tools that actually complete the tasks. Chat GPT is working with its new agent feature, Plaxiti has co -coats, and is now bringing this ability to the real world through Google search.
The bottom line
Google’s new AI features can feel like a small upgrade, unless they solve a real problem for you. In my case, this problem stood a famous toy for my daughter, and Gemini linked her to the nails.
Toy is being shipped, so I will update this story with “Big in Energy” Libo when it arrives.
We are entering a new era where AI is active. And if that means I will never have to waste time on the hold again, I’m definitely present for it.
