After more than a decade of introducing a way to buy your fares or movies and shows through your PC or Xbox, Microsoft is hitting movies and TV store fronts at the Microsoft Store.
The end was confirmed in a new Microsoft Support Page (spotted by Windows Central), which was published today (July 18).
The page writes, “On Microsoft Microsoft.com, Microsoft.com, Microsoft Store on Windows, and Microsoft Store on the Xbox, NEW does not offer more entertainment content.

If you try to access the media using a fun app on the Microsoft Store, you will now see a warning that says, “Microsoft will no longer make movies and TV content for purchase.” The button that lets you buy movies or TV shows have been deleted.
In the general questionnaire on the page, Microsoft says any content purchased earlier will still be accessible through movies and TV apps, which you can still download from the Microsoft Store.
“You can enjoy your pre -purchased movies and TV shows using Microsoft Movies and TV app on your Xbox or Windows device,” says Microsoft.
The company proposes streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV, from any new media.
This is an ignorant end for a service that has existed since 2012, is actually known as the Xbox Video. Then once again, considering the slowness of Microsoft’s entertainment routes, the move is not surprising, which does not include gaming.
As mentioned, Microsoft says you can get your purchases in movies and TV apps, which is not going away.
For our customers, there is a service called movies anywhere you can use to harmonize your media with other services that support movies anywhere.
Basically, it works as a method of your collection for you, while it is able to stream anywhere, which allows you to get movies anywhere. These days often have a code for many physical DVDs and Blu -ray movies that you can use to add movies to your collection.
If you do not trust Microsoft to run movies and TV app, can we suggest you return to build your own home media server or buy physical media? At this point it can be cheaper than streaming.
