Redditters in the UK now have to confirm their age before viewing mature content. Just like Blueviski, who announced a few days ago that he was eliminating age certification features, Reddet had to enforce a new principle to comply with the UK’s online safety act. The new needs of the UK are aimed at preventing children from accessing age inappropriate posts. The Reddest will use a third -party company called Prasana to confirm the user’s age. Consumers will either have to upload their official identity image or take selfies, possibly with the latter options for those who no longer look like a minor.
In his announcement, Reddate said he would not have access to these photos and would only save his confirmation status, with his birth dates. In this way, whenever users try to access limited content, they do not need to re -enter their birthday. The announcement also stated that Persona would only keep photos of users for seven days and would not see their redded information, such as their posts and their submission.
If a user is under 18, Reddit will hide the limited content from them and limit ads in a sensitive category like gambling. They will no longer be able to see sexual content, anything that encourages suicide and inadequate foods, as well as anything that creates hatred against other people on the basis of their race, religion, sex, sexual tendency, disability and gender. Reddit will also restrict anything that encourages violence and in any post that reflects a “real or realistic violence against a person, animal, or imaginary creatures for minors.” They will not be able to see posts that encourage the challenges that result in severe injury, as well as encourage people to stand harmful. The material that embarrasses the physical types of people and other physical properties will also be banned.
Consumers outside the UK will not be affected by the new principle, but Reddit said that if they adopt similar laws, people’s age may need to be verified in other regions. Reddet also said that he would like to be able to confirm whether “AI (consumers) are human in the time of AI, and there will be something more to announce it later.”
