Introduction
This year, after a three-year hiatus, the high-end active noise Mistling (ANC) released a new addition to the WH -000x series. The new WH -000xm6 model has come up with the promise of “best noise cancellation” (according to Sony’s official website), but also increases the price of $ 50.
I’ve been a hobby of the series since WH-1000xm2, so it is a pleasure to test the new XM6 and see how well they have been doing better than Sony’s older models.
Design and relief
Sony is a full-size pair of WH -000xm6 over air headphones. They come in three colors: black, midnight blue, and platinum silver. These include two standard buttons on the left cup. With XM6, Sony has re -designed the power button in a round shape, making it easier to find by contact. There is no change in touch control from previous models. Headphones are made of the same carbon fiber comprehensive material. Air pads cover my ears completely without skiing. More than XM5’s fingerprint resistant. Overall, they feel relieved to wear and it seems that inappropriate sweat or discomfort is not caused by long -term use. The headphone case is a bit more compact and easy to open, thanks to the magnetic handle, which is easier than the zipper used on previous models. Inside it, a short USB-C cable to charge as well as the standard 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm cable. Although the design is usually like the headphone predecessor, the occupation makes a big return with the XM6. Headphones can be added to a more compact case, such as old models from XM5. The argument, removing the occupation from the XM5, was included in Sony’s most controversial design decisions when designing the series.

Personally, I found the folding process compared to previous models. In the upper part, the matter is not so compact – it’s just 3 cm smaller and 2 cm tight. In addition, the occupation enables the upper band to be inappropriately axis, while the cups of the ear are rotated above and inside the base of the headphones. Possibly because of this rotation, I felt a bit more difficult to put the XM6 correctly, which often does not sealed properly around the ears. A snug fit is important not only for relief but also for more and more ANC performance. More later on it.

Overall, Sony is well constructed and comfortable to wear Wh-1000xm6. In my opinion, the folding feature has been somewhat exceeded, though it eventually comes to personal priority.
Software and features
Use Sony WH1000xm6 iOS and Sony Sound Connectications on Android. This app, known as Sony Headphone Connect, has been indispensable for Sony for many years for wireless headphones.
I personally see the app very fool and small. For example, it permanently forgets the specific settings I have turned on or off (such as a spectrum to chat). On a fresh installation, the app guides the user through a burden, incredible lesson and other initial setup steps unless they can access the device settings. Recently, it seems that Sony has removed some non -practical features, such as badges under the listening activity tab.
At the same time, they have introduced “scenes”, which allow users to customize the behavior of headphones such as switching at a certain time of day or location, such as on or off. By argument, such a feature is useful, though some can consider it unnecessary, because it is already easy to turn off or off the headphone or manually control the playback. A familiar feature of previous models is adaptive sound control, depending on the user’s activity. Personally, I do not use adaptive sound control or spectacular chat, because I struggle to hear people speak clearly in a state of affairs. So, when I talk, I easily remove the headset.

Sony introduces a listening method in the app, which is special to WH000xm6. There is a choice between “standard”, “background music”, and “cinema”. The “background music” adjusts the sound to imitate the remote environment, such as a room or cafe. “Cinema” is designed for video content and imitates the film theater environment, which is possible through Sony’s 360 reality audio opmix technology.
In addition, the Sound Connective app offers familiar features from previous models, including Customs Equalists, 360 reality audio setups, and local sound and head tracking, all of which improve the listening experience. Headphones support the Bluetooth multi -point, which can connect with multiple devices simultaneously. They also offer the option of customizing the sound assistant (with the selection between Google Assistant and the Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa) and on the set.

Like the previous models, WH -000xm6 when the headphones are removed from your ears can also stop playback automatically. They close automatically after a short time of disabled. Although the headphones have a 3.5 mm jack feature, they do not support USB audio playback, which can prevent some users.
Efficiency

Generally, Sony’s latest headset provides an excellent audio experience. Combined with the input of professional mastering engineers, the XM6s maintains a balance between studio grade precision and enjoying everyday listening, making it ideal for both casual audience and even some audio files.
Microphone
Sony WH-1000xm6 is equipped with a six microphone-based inflammatory system that separates your sound and filters background noise. Although this is a technical upgrade compared to previous models, the weakest feature of the microphone headset. In the studio setting, Mike’s quality is quite good for this caleber’s headphone. But outside, especially in a noisy environment, such as public transit, the microphone remains unusual. Sony’s algorithm successfully separates the background noise, but sounds are almost impossible to hear the process.
The XM6 has an additional toggle in the Sony Sound Connective app that turns on sound arrest during phone calls. Sound arrest is considered to improve the quality of sound, but our tests have not shown any significant improvement. It claims to isolate the AI -based sound, but in our experience, it behaves more like a noise door, and cuts the sounds under a particular doorstep, which sometimes includes your voice. Other companies, such as Nvidia, are ahead of the isolation of sound. Finally, while the Japanese company has gradually improved the microphone setup in recent models, there is still room for improvement in terms of sound explanation.
Noise cancellation
As expected, WH -000xm6 is a good cancellation of noise. They come with an HD noise cancellation processor QN3, which is faster to Q1 to 7x in XM5. The ANC is taking the lead in reducing the repeated noise, such as engines and trains are running, so headphones perform horrific performance in airplanes, public transit or busy street. Where technology is often low, it is occasionally accidentally loud, such as the announcement of the train, though sharp processing has made it much better than canceling such noise. The XM6 shows improvement than previous models in suppressing accidental noise, though this technology is incomplete. Saying that, the ANC headphone in the Sony market is something excellent, if not, and the XM6 is currently their best offer.
Regarding the interdependence format, on its maximum sequence, the external sounds are significantly clear, and the sounds come through the crispor compared to the previous models.
As mentioned earlier, I had difficulty finding a comfortable fit. Our tests yielded even more impressive results: Using music playback and voice calls combination with ANC, the headphone continued for about 40 40 hours on the same charge.

Finally, Sony is undoubtedly available in the Best Over Air Headphone of the ANC available. They are lightweight and relatively compact. Noise experience and audio standards are better than ever. Headset has a long and reliable battery life, ensuring that it will remain on the longest flights.
Although the new model is an upgrade compared to its predecessor in terms of audio quality and ANC, the design is not widespread if not a bit inferior. Hinging mechanism makes headset less strong, yet provides little benefit in the case of compact pin. When used outside, the microphone is well known. Buyers should stop the high -cost tag of $ 499.99. Although this may be reasonable in view of global inflation, we are difficult to justify the proposal of value. Especially considering whether old models are available on discounted prices or other hands, for example, WH -000xm5 is currently sold at 999.99 on Sony’s official website. In the opinion of this reviewer, WH-1000xm6 is a great purchase for those upgraded to older models from older models than XM5 or Midranage ANC over air headphones.
Finally, Sony has made a strong increase in the WH -000xmx family. XM6 set a solid standard for travel headphones and over -air headphones.
