- Android is improving its chat bubble feature on large screen devices, discussing a new, more accessible “bubble bar” in the bottom corner.
- This new bubble bar is cautiously hidden until you swipe it, which expands the recent chat bubble to you.
- Although this feature is currently direct to the latest Android Canary Blood tablets and foldables, evidence suggests that it can eventually come on the phone.
When you are in a busy group chat, it may be a pain to constantly change apps to view the latest messages. The feature of Android’s chat bubble helps you to follow the conversation in a swimming window without leaving your existing app. Contrary to the information that only shows two or two messages, the full conversation in the chat bubbles is UI. Although this feature is useful, it has been poorly improved for large screen devices-at least until the release of Android Canary.
In the current stable release of Android 16, the chat bubbles appear near the left or right side of the screen. It works well on tight smartphones, but it’s strange on wide bullets. Although consumers can move bubbles to a more convenient place, the latest Android canry introduces a more beautiful solution for blood pills and book -style foldables.
On the big screen devices, the bubbles of the chat are now applied to a “bubble bar”, anchoring anchor in the bottom right corner of the screen. New bubbles are automatically added to this bar and remain hidden until you swipe.

Swipe on the bubble bar increases the current chat bubble. Other open conversations appear in a small tablet with active. Taping the “+” button inside this tablet reveals recent and first dismissal bubbles.
Each chat bubble includes the title bar. Taping this opens a menu with three options: “Don’t talk bubble,” “app settings,” and “dismiss the bubble.”
Although chat bubbles can no longer be given freely on large screen devices, the new bubble bar is a significant improvement. Placing bubbles in the bottom right corner rather than the middle of the screen, it is much easier to reach a wider display.
We have been tracking Google’s progress on this feature for almost two years and wondering when it will happen. It is essentially ready since 2024, so we do not know why it takes such a long time to survive. Although the bubble bar is currently limited to the big screen devices releasing the Android Canary of July, we have seen evidence that Google is working to bring it on the phone.
