According to a new report by the speed test site Okla, the star link is doubled than the Wi -Fi option in any flight. (Okula is owned by the same basic company such as CNET, Zef Davis).
The speed of the star link in the air is faster than some Internet providers on the ground. SpaceX’s satellite internet company uploads 152Mbps median download speed and 24 MBPS speed.
That download and uploaded speed was doubled than any other flight internet option, but Litanisi was the place where it really blow up the competition. Delays in the Star Link flight came to just 44 mm. Next Lost, MTN satellite communication, was at 667 mm. With this type of number, you can play a video call on a flight equipped with a star link to the star link.
How is it possible to completely eliminate the aircraft competition equipped with a star link link? The answer is on the unique fleet of the Star Link’s 7,000 less land orbit satellite. They operate about 342 miles from the ground, compared to more than 22,000 miles for geostation satellite, which is used by suppliers such as Hoesnet and Diamonds.
“This is just physics, okay,” Kerry Baker, author of Okla’s report, told CNET. “Looking at the figures of what I had at that time, and airlines stand in a row just as you expect from physics.”
Surprisingly, the speed of the star link was actually faster in the air than the earth. According to Okla’s speed test results from the first quarter of 2025, starlink users in the United States were delayed by an average download speed of 105Mbps, 15Mbps speed and 45ms.
Other major satellite internet providers, Hoznett and Vyasat also recorded a fast in the air than the land, though the recent data from Okla on these suppliers has been from 2023.
According to Okla’s report, Hawaii Airlines and Qatar Airways recorded speed test results with the star link in the first quarter of 2025. United Airlines also started installing the star link on its planes earlier this year, debuted on some planes on May 15. Scandinavine Airlines signed an agreement in January 2025.
