Google Pixel Phones offer help for a useful feature known as call screening in selected areas, including the United States. According to a report, the company is eventually working to introduce functionality in India, according to a report, about seven years after the launch. The call screening feature on Pixel phones will also use artificial intelligence (AI) to display smart response tips during calls, which should be manually selected by the user to respond to the callers. Apple is also ready to introduce similar call screening features with its iOS 26 updates later this year.
Call screening on Pixel phones may require regulatory approval
During the recent phone’s tear by the Google app, the Android Authority found files, which shows that the company is planning to bring this feature to India. One of them is a zip file that mentions the text of “Hi_in” which refers to language (Hindi) and localization (India), and it can be a source that can be used by call screening feature on the phone app for Google Pixel Smartphones.

Another wire was also discovered in the post called “Inbenlandia Manuel Screeningal Mode”, which shows that users in India will not have access to the automatic call screening version, which is available in the United States. Users will need to tap Screen call Buttons for upcoming calls, then choose from different answers, if manual call screening is prepared in the country.
Although there is no word from the company on plans to bring call screening on Pixel phones in India, the publication states that the company can wait for the regulatory approval before this feature is over. It is also unclear whether Google will introduce this feature in English and Hindi, or other languages will be supported in the future.
This is not the first time Google has been seen working on support for call screening. In January 2024, a user enabled this feature on AOSPA -powered root One Plus 7, a customs version of Android. The user can enable this feature after downloading a Hindi language pack on his smartphone.
Later this year, Apple is also expected to present a similar feature with iOS 26 that asks callers for information, which allows the user to decide whether they want to respond to a call or reject it. It is expected that this feature will work directly with the voicemail feature, which made the iPhone owners in India with the update of iOS18.
