Earlier this week, some dedicated Xbox 360 users boot their elderly consoles to find out that Microsoft has updated the home screen to solve a problem with box art. But in addition to this accuracy, multiple users of Reddate, QuotauConfirmed that the update also includes some major ads for Xbox series X / S consoles that are in the dashboard of 360, as spotted Trueachiements.
In Microsoft’s Xbox 360 dashboard, Microsoft arrived shortly after closing the Xbox 360 online store in July 2024, when it did not need any further menus and tiles. This update introduced a bug that causes game thumbnail and box art to spread and distort the home screen, but now the bug is fixed.
Microsoft has a lot of subtle indicators that are less welcome that there may be time to upgrade the Xbox 360 owners. Two different ads that now appear on the dashboard of 360 include a photo of a text without Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles, and a QR code that leads to the Xbox website that encourages players to “experience next general performance” with text.
Clicking on any advertisement does nothing. You will need to get out of your smartphone or a tablet to visit the URL embedded in the QR code, where you will be more willing to upgrade to the latest XBOX model.
The Xbox 360 is the highest sales console of Microsoft, when it has sold about 84 84 million units since launching in 2005. It was popular after the release of Xbox One, and still after the release of the Xbox Series X / S Microsoft in countries like Mexico, it held a major market share after running an impressive 19 years.
