- Samsung is testing HDR screenshot support for an UI 8 with the release of his latest closed beta (ZYF7).
- This feature potentially relies on the embedded Gain Maps of Android 16 when properly viewed for real HDR image exposure.
- HDR screenshots are not yet available in the release of an UI 8 beta 2, but can reach the future with open beta or stable release.
Samsung will bring Android 16 to its devices with an UI 8 release. The beta program is directly for the Galaxy S25 series, and we are already in the second beta release. Samsung also has an internal test track that goes beyond the open beta, and thanks to these test bloods, we have now learned that the company can provide assistance for HDR screenshots.
With Android 16, Google has implemented support for real HDR screenshots. HDR content screenshots will be stored in HDR format, ie embedded maps that get HDR with PNG files. Looking at these screenshots will illuminate the screen so that HDR highlights can be popped. These beneficial maps enable screenshots to appear as HDR when viewing SDR on Android 16 devices but on other devices.
The Lex Ice Universe mentions that the latest one UI 8 Zyf7 Blood (available in the closed beta but not yet in the open son) includes HDR screenshots support. Lister installed an update on his Galaxy S25 ultra and took an HDR photo screenshot he saw on social media. Google and Samsung’s credit L, the screenshot maintains the original HDR effect.
By the way, the Samsung S. 25 Ultra One UI 8 ZYF7 (Android16 feature) supports the screenshot HDR. This is Oppo Find X8 Ultra HDR picture
I saw it on social media, and took a screenshot and put it in my gallery.
It still maintains the HDR effect of the original image.

Lasser notes that HDR screenshots is a new feature of Zef 7 closed beta firmware and is not available in the release of an UI 8 beta 2 (ZYF3).
Although it is a good opportunity that this feature will be included in the release of the next open beta release and stable One UI 8, there is still a small possibility that this will not happen. When we launch with the next generation foldable of Samsung in the coming weeks, we are crossing our fingers to see HDR screenshots in a stable One UI 8 update.
