In 2023 the music industry’s nightmare was fulfilled, and it seemed a lot like a Drake.
A convincing fake duo between Drake and The Week end, “Heart on my sleeve,” rescues millions of rivers before anyone can explain who made it or where it came from. The track was not just viral – he broke the illusion that anyone was under control.
In a rotation to respond, a new category of infrastructure is quietly shaping, which is developed to detect the generative music, but to detect it. The detection system is being embedded in the entire music pipeline: in the tools used for the training of models, the platforms where the songs are uploaded, the database that the license rights, and the algorithms that create the discovery. The purpose is not just catching artificial material after reality. It has to be identified quickly, tagged with metadata, and rule how it moves into the system.
“If you do not make this item in the infrastructure, you are chasing your tail,” says Matt Edel, a musical AI’s Coofer. “You can’t react to every new track or model – it doesn’t measure. You need infrastructure that works through distribution.”
Not rounded, but has licensing and control
Startup popups are now being popped up to detect licensing workflows. Platforms like YouTube and Disasters have developed an internal system to flag artificial audio as it has been uploaded and formed how it is at the level of search and recommendations. Other music companies – including hearing magic, PEX, rights, and sound clouds – training datases to distribution to everything is increasing the properties of detection, moderation and attribution.
The result is a scattered but rapidly increasing environmental system of these companies, which is not as an implementation device, but as a tablestack infrastructure for artificial media tracking.
Instead of detecting it after the spread of AI music, some companies are making tools to tag it at the moment of their creation. Vermela and musical AI are developing systems to scan prepared tracks for artificial elements and automatically tag them in metadata.

Some companies are pushing for themselves training data. By analyzing it in a model, they aim to estimate how much loans the track produced by specific artists or songs. Such attribution can further enable the exact licensing, with creative influence rather than post -release disputes. This idea echoes old debates about musical influence – like a “faded lines” trial – but they apply to the algorithmic breed. The difference is now that the licensing can be made before the release, not through the reality through legal action.
Musical AI is also working on a detection system. The company describes its system as layers of infusion, race and distribution. Instead of filter the output, it detects the transition from the end to the end.
“When the song is completed, it should not start – when the model starts to learn, it should start,” says Sean Power, Sean Power says. “We’re trying to understand the amount of creative influence, not just catch copies.”
