- The Google is developing a new version of the Chrome for Android that supports the expansion, and recent progress has shown significant progress.
- Now it is possible to install the Chrome Extension directly from the Chrome Web Store, and they will remain intact even after the browser is resumed.
- This feature is still experimental and plans for Android -powered PCs in the future, but now anyone can load the APK’s saddle to try it.
Although Google Chrome is the most popular browser ever on Android, the lack of support for its expansion has always stopped it from being the most powerful. Without the ability to install many useful chrome extensions from the Chrome Web store, the functionality of the mobile browser is limited. Fortunately, Google is quietly working to replace the Chrome for Android, which supports the expansion, and it has improved significantly since we took it for the first time in April.

Context L, We reported last year that Google is developing a special “desktop” for Chrome, especially for Android, which can especially support this new chrome extension. These buildings are designed to give future Android PC a chrome -equal browser experience on another desktop operating system. Although Google does not currently create Android for PCS, it is an active area of development as a long -term purpose part of the company to unite its chromos and Android operating system.
Thanks to Chrome’s open source, we can track Google’s progress on this feature. In April, we gave you a first look at your “desktop” expansion support, but the experiment was early. For starters, installing chrome extensions was a problem, which requires us to manually download .crx files and drag and drop them into the extension page. In addition, chrome will delete all the installed extension every time we restart the browser. Both of these issues made this feature unusable for daily browsing, but fortunately, Google has set them in new construction since then.
Last week, Android Authority Reader Kashk Ahmed told us that it is now possible to install the Chrome Extension directly from the Chrome Web Store. In our testing, we not only confirmed this but also found that the browser no longer delete the extension between the launches.
Installing Dark Reader from Chrome Web StoreDark Reader and Capa Extension Install by Chrome Web Store
We also saw that the Extension icons have now appeared in the chrome toll bar. Although the central expansion button did not work, the icons of individual extension, such as the Dark Reader, were useful. This allowed us to control them directly from the toll bar, though their popup dialogues had some notable UI scaling issues.
Adding the Chrome Web Store Support makes it much easier to install the extension into these “desktops” – now it only takes a click. Although the experience is not perfect-some chrome extensions still do not work, the central expansion menu is not launched, and popups do not measure properly-it is clear that full expansion support is developing well.
Unfortunately, there is still no evidence that Google plans to bring these “desktops” phones or tablets. As far as we know, the company is targeting the PC -driven PC, though we do not have a timeline for this launch. However, if you are comfortable with seeding APKs, you do not have to wait for any official release to try yourself.

6) Launch a new chromium app from your app drawer. (Note: Since it is made from Chrome’s open source code, it will appear as “chromium”, “not chrome.”)
7) Go to the Chrome Web Store and install your favorite Chrome Extension.
And just! The process is much easier than ever. However, before you start browsing, there are some important warnings to keep in mind:
- Missing features: Since these buildings are compiled from chromium, which is the open source version of Chrome, they lack the properties of owned Google, such as account synchronization and Google Cast Support.
- No automatic update: Since this app is not installed from the Google Play Store, you will need to check and install new versions manually.
- The capability of insects: These are experimental structures that have not been widely tested. They may be small, so we do not recommend relying on them for any important tasks.
