- The Samsung Pixel is “intensifying” Google’s switch from Samsung to TSMC to manufacture chip.
- The move apparently appeared as a “trauma” for Samsung last month.
- When it comes to chip manufacturing, TSMC is generally considered better than Samsung.
Google has used Samsung to produce its tensor smartphone chips since 2021, but the Pixel 10 series has been widely developed by rival developer TSMC. Now, Samsung is allegedly watching this switch closely as part of a wider investigation into its flag -folding foundry business.
Coren Outlet Bell . Outlet added that this switch caused “trauma” inside and outside Samsung last month.
“Losing Google is a case that shows the complex problems of the Samsung Foundry at the same time,” an industry source told outlet. “I think there are many debates and concerns that are also going on internally.”
Why did Google switch?
Bell Google cited several reasons for jumping, which includes low output in the highest advanced process, lack of semiconductor design resources, and increased competition between Google and Samsung’s smartphone arms.
We can also think about the reasons facing consumers as Google also changed foundries. Instead of the Samsung Foundry, smartphone chips manufactured by TSMC have generally been cool and more efficient, which enables better battery life and reduces the heating system. Meanwhile, Pixel phones from Google’s tanker gained fame for a hot run and a mixed battery life. So converting the preparation of the pixel chip into a TSMC can eliminate some of these problems.
It does not look like the process of preparation for the next generation of Samsung is running easily. The company is allegedly “struggling to move as a plan” with the 2nm process. The company has been instructed to use this process for Ecinos 2600, which may appear in the Galaxy S26 series.
In any case, I am not sure whether Samsung was really surprised by Google’s decision. We have just learned about the move for months, so we are confident that Samsung should know about it longer. However, last month, it was reported that Google’s contract with TSMC could continue up to Pixel 14. Therefore, it is possible that Samsung was blinded by the news of this long -term deal.
