    • Chrome has been playing with the menu to open links in new tabs in the past few years.
    • If you are accustomed to opening tabs in groups, you may prefer from where this selection comes in the list.
    • Chrome now offers a flag that provides users with full control over this order.

When it comes to browser tabs, everyone gets their own opinion. Some of us are faster, keep the tabs organized, and at the top of closing the without tied people. Others cannot be bothered to think only twice about them, and more and more open until Chrome throws its “:)” counter in the chrome. Depending on where you fall on this spectrum, you may have some strong feelings about tab groups – love them how they set us open sites, or hate how they add chaos to a large list of your tabs. If you are recently opening yourself in new tab groups, you will be happy to know that you are not going crazy, and that’s a good reason for what’s happening.

When you put a long pressure on a link in Chrome on Android, you get the first three options on how the browser opens this target: in a new tab, in a new tab, in which the current one is group, or in a hidden tab. But since we were around Google’s new Chrome beta 138 (138.0.7204.35), we were revolving around Android’s release, we found ourselves lifting a eyebrow on the order of these options: If Google wandered them?

Certainly, that’s happening, but the timetable around the change is a bit confused.

As we can tell, Google pushed the group option about two years ago to the top of the list. Then a few months ago, Google must have eliminated the change, but also introduced a flag that now controls it.

The presence of this flag makes it easier for Google to experience this menu with this menu, and that is why people are feeling confused about what order they are accustomed to, and which new feels. We saw such a conversation in community forums for brave browser (which is based on chrome, chromium), indicating the sequence that is behind it all.

If you want to change your new tab options order, easily navigate Chrome: // flag And find the “tab in the group”. The full name of the flag you are looking for #Sweep-Tab and New Tab in Group-Android. Stretch it, and you can togel between options for the default options (leaving the selection on Google) or clearly active or disabled. With the flag ActiveWe see the new tab first, while the group option gets the top slot when Inactive.

Now you can take full control over Chrome’s new tab menu order and hopefully avoid great frustration.
