Russian scientists have confirmed a new island in the northern Caspian Sea. The satellite imagery from the end of 2024 indicated the first level of breaking Sandbank, and the field campaign confirmed it in the mid -2025. This feature is located about 30 km southwest of the Malay Zimchuzini island on the border of Europe, the world’s largest country of sea. It barely rises over the water, and it appears as the caspian level reached extraordinarily low values. Scientists have noted that the sea has fallen in recent decades (which is associated with more vapors in heat climate and regional tectonic shifts) and has been falling back from 2010.
Confirmation of the appearance of the island
According to a translated statement, in November 2024, satellite images show a pile of sand and sesame seeds above the sea level. When a Russian research ship arrived at this place, scientists saw a flat, sandy patch above the water. Its surface was crossed with small parts of damp and sand, but only a few inches higher than the surrounding sea. The boat proved difficult to get closer: The weather of very shallow water and misery means that the team cannot actually land on a new island. Instead, researchers blow up drones to photograph the site from above. These aerial photos confirmed the island’s sketch and scale. In the fields of the field, the new island appeared as a lower, sandy field with no plants.
Environmental importance and the future point of view
Caspian changing water and geology are highlighted in the island. Scientists have observed that the long -term cycle of water and the long -term cycle of water can be exposed to the underwater banks as temporary islands, as has been seen in the mud volcanoes from the coast of Azerbaijan. The island, which can be an outskirts for a hurricane ground or caspin seals, may be affected by climate water loss and tectonic or volcanic activity. The destiny of the island will help scientists understand the interaction between the caspian water level, the climate change, and the movements of the land, and new residences can emerge when the sea changes its coast.
