- Android 16 Qpr1 beta 2 quietly transforms Wi-FI and mobile network icons on the status bar.
- The new management photographes Apple’s approach to iOS and breaks the Android UX principles established over the years.
- If Google decides to move forward with change, it can reach Pixel devices with Android 16 QPR1 stable release in September, and reach the Android platform with Android 17 next year.
Software updates are raining! We have Android 16 stable and Android 16 Qpr1 Beta 2 release in Android Camp iOS 26 beta and large updates. Although liquid glass and material with these updates are the most significant changes, Google has quietly changed Wi -Fi and mobile data icons on the status bar at Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2, and it is practically like now.
Android has long presented these status bar icons in order: Wi -Fi, mobile network, battery, left to right. Although very modest, this order gives a visual rating to your status bar, in which Wi -Fi and network icons shape each other, while the battery icon remains solid.

Even despite the re -designed status bar icons introduced with Android 16 Qpr1 Beta 1, the order was safe even though the battery icon has changed its direction.

Android OEMs use different icons in their UX, but mostly follow the order. For example, check out the status bar contained in the current an UI 8 beta release:

Once you install Android 16 QPR1 beta 2 on your pixel device, you will see that the position of Wi-Fi and mobile network icons has been converted into a status bar. The new order is mobile network, Wi -Fi, and battery.

This order looks at them at a distance, everyone stands more independently and less completed.
In fact, this is a small change, but one is against what Android has presented for years. Google has not explained why this change is in the release of QPR1 son 2, but if you want to guess, take a look at the iOS status bar:

Since this change comes with the release of Android 16 QPR1 beta 2, you can expect it to go directly to the Pixel devices with a stable release in Q3 2025, which our sources tell us that it can be limited to September 3, 2025 (though the date is not kept in stone). For the wider Android ecosystem, this change will come up with Android 17 when it ends next year. It all believes that Google plans to move forward with this change, but the company can change the change based on user opinion.
Thanks for the indicator on the indicator!
