One of the more calm phone manufacturers in the market is Sony. The company has trapped in a formula that has acquired a few loyal followers over the years, but has never been mounted on popularity that can compete with the rest of the major players like Samsung, Google, Apple. Or even the motorla and one pulse. We recently reviewed Experia 1 VII, filled with cool and practical features, some of which have long been dropped by other brands. But Sony was especially fine about this release. There is no need to say that there are some very familiar stumbling on the phone, which makes it realized that Sony’s mobile division is still standing, which lacks improvement and encouragement.
So what’s going on with Sony’s latest flagship? And why does this moment feel more than just another Experia launch?
Sony what was fine
An excellent display in the market! | Photo by Fonina
Sony’s dedication to hardware quality is undoubtedly. Like the previous generations, the Experia 1 VII contains an amazing 6.5 -inch 4K OLED display that, with the creative format for colorful work, a feature material creators can realize real advantage. Our test confirms that its brightness and calibrations are advanced, which combines the best display in the market. The audio is equally impressive. The front -speaking speakers .L.L, supply full physical sound, and the phone’s 3.5 mm headphone jack remains intact. Made with high resolution audio and LDAC support, Xperia 1 VII media has been clearly developed for the use and creators.
This passionate first touches the microSD card slot and a super -two -step camera shutter buttons adding. This makes the phone one of the rest of the few high -end devices that still support the characteristics of the hardware that others have left the price limit.
According to the performance, Experia 1 VII did not disappoint us. This Snapdragon runs on 8 Elite, and the benchmark test shows that it can run with devices like the Galaxy S25 ultra. Battery life is also solid, especially looking at the phone’s compact form and high resolution display.
Where it still lags back

Despite its commendable hardware, Experia 1 VII has been stumbling with the same problems that have suffered Sony’s phone for years.
The camera, one for one, is a strange lack. Despite the impressive sensors of housing and a smart real zoom lens, the results are contradictory. In our review of Experia 1 VII, we noted the lack of stability options in the video recording, and the lack of stability options in video recording. This would not be so worried if Sony was not primarily marketing the phone to the creators and camera enthusiasts. But when an € 1,499 phone captures images that are merely “fine”, especially compared to other phones of this class, it is difficult to justify this price tag.
Software updates are another weak link. Sony has extended the support window to the security patch of OS updates for Experia 1 VII to four years and six years, but when it comes to updating the rollout, the company is slow.
Finally, there is price and availability. Experia 1 VII launches 4 1,499 in Europe and completely leaves the United States. To run the second year, Sony has failed to secure a carrier contribution in the United States – a market that is essential for the sale of premium phones. The lack of subsidy or carrier support makes the Xperia line almost invisible for mainstream buyers. And bundling the phone with expensive Sony headphones in some areas doesn’t really help.
LG’s echoes
LG released its last phone – went out with an explosion with the LG wing. | Photo by Fonina
Sony’s current mobile route is a mirror in its last years with the LG filming. LG also created well-kept phones with features that appealed to fans-extensive angle camera, headphones jack, quad DAC. But it failed to provide the forced software, the camera fell behind in the post processing, and it never properly determined its refreshing strategy. Over time, its flagships have increased expensive to justify their price, especially with the presence of real careers in important markets like Sony, especially in important markets like the American Sony, it seems at the same pace.
Both companies also relied heavily on hardware discrimination, reducing the role of software and ecosystem in modern smartphones. The LG tried to innovate with devices like the LG Wing or LG velvet, but consumers’ interest has already ended, and these special features were seen as more tricks than the next big thing.
If Sony is not cautious, it can reach the same tipping point. The company continues to double its flagship phone as the best creator tool to go along with professional equipment, but even the target audience is not too excited about Sony’s sales.
Is this the end?

A recent report that comes straight from Sony’s home country, Japan, says the company will convert its flagship phone manufacture into third party manufacturers. Experia 1 VII has been first submitted by a third party.
Given the limited presence of the market, shrinking the global shares (from 1 % below), and lower lineup (Xperia 5 and Xperia 10 lines), outsourcing can prove to be a precursor to soft emission. The plug is slowly decreasing like LG before pulling it completely, it seems that Soni is shrinking its image year by year.
Sony has not officially announced plans to quit the smartphone business. But his actions speak the skin. No American launch. There is no marketing push. Outsource production is a price that discourages the mainstream. All the signs suggest that Sony is keeping the Xperia line on the support of life rather than investing in his life.
Xperia 1 VII can’t be a bad phone – in fact, it is quite good in many ways – but it is in space. For most buyers, it’s hidden. And for what they give, it is difficult to recommend more polished, widely available alternatives. Japan’s report describes the change as a “long -term strategy” by a third -party manufacturer, which makes me attracted to believing that Xperia 1 VII will not be the last phone we see from Sony. However, the first step towards it may be.
