    • Silicon Motion SM2324 9mm Chip strengthens outer SSDS with up to 32TB and
    • It promises the real USB4 speed of 4,000MB/s
    • Made for film bananis and backup warrris, this chip supports Apple ProWork Floose

Silicon Motion has revealed a potential change piece of storage tech in computer Motion 2025: SM324, a single chip USB4 SSD controller, which aims to strengthen external drives with storage up to 32TB and read 4,000MB/s speed.

The company says SM324 connects local USB4 support with an integrated power delivery controller, which means low parts, low cost for OEMS, and more compact SSD walls.

This theory, can start a new class of high-capacity portable drives-though cheapness and availability are still big questions.

Unlike multi -chip designs, it is designed to facilitate production without compromising on performance, thanks to the speed of writing, which is 3,809MB/s -suming cooling enough.

It also offers compatibility with 3D TLC and QLC Nand as well as power delivery 3.1, and is made using a 12NM low -power node of TSMC to keep the power demands reasonable.

Up to 32TB with Windows, Macos, Linux, and even Apple Process Work Flues on iPhones and compatible support, the controller clearly targets a wide market for enterprise backup users from mobile filmmakers.

Whether it ends in the best portable hard drive or the best SSD status, it depends not only on its spirits, but how it is implemented.

Still, there are warnings. Although single chip simplicity reduces BOM costs, there is no promise that the SM2TB USB4 SSDS will be priced on mainstream consumers.

Nand prices, thermal management requirements, and obstacles to power supply can push all final products into the expert area.

So when it can sit together with the best outdoor SSD options in performance, it cannot do this at the price.

This device comes with security features that include AES 128/256-BIT encryption, hardware SHA-384, a TRNG, and full TCG UPAL 2.0 compliance.

Even there is an optional support for fingerprint -based verification, though the integration details are vague.

It also integrates Silicon Motion’s Nand Exxon LDPCEC engine, which improves endurance and reliability for both TLC and QLC memory.

In terms of design, the chip is compact, only 9 mm is 9 mm, and it also includes aluminum heat sprider, which makes it viable for thin outer walls.

“In Silicon Motion, Silicon Motion’s Client and Automotive Storage Business Senior VP Nelson Don said,” In Silicon Motion, we are focused on providing SSD controller solutions, which includes both performance and power performance. “

“… SM324 reflects the porch storage with a fully integrated single -chip USB4 solution. These technologies reflect the commitment to help users build fast, small and more efficient SSD for next generation applications.”
