- Google is developing a new lock screen clock customization options in the release of the latest Android 16 Qpr1 beta 1.
- Thanks to its “reaction” font, now a slider is now included to adjust the weight and width of the default clock.
- Although more granular size options are still missing and it is unclear whether other watches will become “reaction”, the update has constantly focused on Google’s personal nature.
Google is slowly dripping new US customers, and it seems that this year will bring some major upgrades to the lock screen. Last year, we revealed that the Google Lock screen is developing new ways to customize the clock. Now, today with the latest Android 16 son, some of them are directly customized.
With the release of Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1, Google has finally introduced the Rapid Pixel Wallpaper app, which we have for the first time told that it was in development last year. The new version of the “Wallpaper and Style” app improves the UI to change the appearance of the lock screen. It also includes a slider to adjust the weight and width of the clock, though it is currently only applied to the default clock.
Here is a short video showing Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1 shows a new pixel -shaped custom slider in action.
This slider is only available for a default clock because it is the only “reaction” font using the font that allows dynamic adjustments. We do not know that Google plans to make other lock screen watches “reaction”, but it is unlikely for some people, as it can interfere with the designs they have established. It is also unfortunate that Google did not introduce more clock -sized options that we saw last year, as they may have offered even more customization.
Nevertheless, we are happy to see that Google introduces new features of customization in Android, even if this increase is somewhat limited. Google has recently promised more bold, fluid, and UI with the announcement of its content 3 expression, so more customization options will help to make the new design feel more personal.
