Facebook’s parents’ company Meta Platforms told a federal judge on Thursday that the US Federal Trade Commission’s case was accused of illegal social media monopoly, saying the agency had failed to prove its case in the trial of high -stake.

At a trial launched in Washington on April 14, the FTC has tried to show that this meta, currently known as Facebook, has illegally dominated the social media platform for the social media platform used to share with friends and family through the acquisition of Instagram and WhatsApp. The FTC is trying to open the deals, which had occurred more than a decade ago.

If it was accepted, Meta’s request for evidence so far would be abolished in the matter, though US District Judge James Bosberg could refuse to take it. Meta is now presenting its own evidence in the trial, which can run in June.

A FTC spokesperson did not immediately respond to the comment request on Thursday.

The FTC is trying to show that this meta, currently known as Facebook, purchased Instagram and WhatsApp to point out competitors, where CEO Mark Zuckerberg was worried about the growth of apps.

But evidence of the trial shows that WhatsApp has no plans to extend Facebook to become a social network rival, and that Zuckerberg knew that Meta said Thursday, before finalizing the contract. The company said that the testimony shows that Instagram increased after acquisition.

Meta also argued that friends and family sharing apps, considered FTC, such as Snap Chat, Instagram and Facebook-and Techtok have failed to show a meaningful difference, which Meta said she was forced to imitate her to survive.

The FTC has said that the platform where users broadcast content to strangers based on common interests, such as X, T -TaTok, YouTube and reddates, are not exchanged.

The company said, “The line that connects all these social apps is that each user does the VI to show the content made by each user to maximize the consumer’s time and attention from other apps, including Meta’s apps.”

If the Boseberg does not approve the Meta application, the FTC and Meta are expected to file a final briefing after submitting the company’s evidence and provide closing arguments.

If the judge then found out that the Meta had an illegal monopoly, the case would hear another case on appropriate measures to resolve the case.
