In the latest competition between the European Union regulators and major tech companies, Techtok has fought European regulators during advertising transparency. The European Commission has officially warned Ticotok that its advertising transparency tools do not go enough, which lacks EU rules, which requires an online platform to maintain publicly available publicly available to all paying advertisements.
Regulators are raising the issue with data, or lacking in the reservoir, which is developed by Tukk. They claim that the tickets have failed to provide information about who paid the ads, which they are targeting the audience and they are promoting the ads.
This information is used by regulators and researchers to eliminate harmful materials such as scams, inadequate information or integrated influence campaigns. These rules come under the Digital Services Act (DSA), a European Union rule adopted in 2022, which governs for illegal content, transparent advertising and unknown information. The implementation of very large online platforms (VLOPS), such as T -Tyok, began in the summer of 2023, and the Commission began a formal action to determine whether Tukk violated the DSA in February 2024.
In a statement, the European Commission Tech VP Mehndi Workcin said, “Transparency in online advertising – which pays and how the audience is targeted – is essential to keeping the public interest. Whether we are defending the integrity of our democratic elections, we are protecting the public or who is the right to know.”
In a statement to the press, the ticket’s spokesman did not agree with the results, “When we support the goals of the rules and improve our advertisement transparency tools, we do not agree with some of the commission’s interpretations and note that there is a clear, public guidance instead of preliminary results.” This is not the first time that Techtok has found himself in warm water with Internet Safety Regulators in Europe.
Under the DSA rules, the Tech Parent Company, Betdance, can be fined up to 6 % of its total revenue worldwide and can be subjected to a better monitoring period where regulators ensure that some changes are being made.
