- Children will need to set up accounts through the Google Family Link.
Google is sending email to parents, according to a report of New York TimesExplaining them to their intention to start accessing Gemini for children under the age of 13. The effort is ready to continue for next week, and will be eligible for households using the Google Family link to handle their accounts.
Young people have access to Gemini (well, bird) since 2023, and Google extended it to education accounts last summer. As a result, Gemini already has reservations for younger users – though it remains to be seen that parents will expose their young children for service, they are all the same. For example, Google is already trying to get beyond many such concerns, for example, Gemini will not use any of these children’s conversation for training materials.
Nevertheless, Google may know that when it comes to surveillance, it is eventually going through a lot of money. For example, the company is advising parents that they will need to teach their children to properly criticize Gemini output, double checking for potential mistakes. This is already a huge problem when we take everything to Gemini at a significant cost, and very young children may not have the skills to make such decisions.
Parents may be waiting for Google’s email when their children’s family link accounts are ready to spin to Jamni. Will you allow your children to interact with Gemini, or is it an experience of the next generation that can wait until they are a bit more mature?
